Fully qualified and ticketed Permit Holders supporting safe shutdown operations across the UK and Ireland — working alongside DNOs, Tier 1 contractors and cutting teams.
UA-5 provides fully qualified and ticketed Permit Holders to support outage operations across the UK and Ireland. Our Permit Holders play a critical role in maintaining the safety, control and coordination of shutdown works — ensuring all activity undertaken on the network adheres to the highest standards of compliance and operational excellence.
Working closely with DNOs, Tier 1 contractors and cutting teams, our Permit Holders deliver a seamless, end-to-end outage management contribution — from pre-work safety checks through to network restoration.
UA-5 provides both outage notification (carding) and permit holding as a combined service offering. When engaged together, our carding and permit teams coordinate directly — ensuring the landowner and customer notifications align with the planned shutdown window, and that the permit process begins with full situational awareness of the notification status.
This integrated approach eliminates the communication gaps that can occur when notification and permit functions are handled by separate organisations.
Learn about Outage NotificationAll UA-5 Permit Holders hold the relevant network-specific authorisations and are required to maintain current competence records.
